Movements of the head

Movements of the head involves mostly all the vertebrae of the cervical column.

The articulation in-between the globe of the head and the 'Atlas" allows up- and downward movements of the head of a total of about 20 degree. The articulation in-between the "Atlas" and the second vertebra allows movements to the side of about 30 degree in each direction.

The articulation in-between the globe of the head and the "Atlas" allows up- and down movements of the head to a total of about 20 degree.

The articulation in-between the "Atlas" and the second vertebra allows rotation to the side of about 30 degree in each direction.

Vertebrae 2 to 7 permit inclination - forth and back and to the side - and shifting - forth and back of about 10 cm in total, and to the side of about 3 cm in each direction.
